Bistek Tagalog (Filipino Beefsteak)

Ingredients:
2 pounds sirloin steak,cut into 1/4-inch pieces
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
salt to taste
1 cup sliced onion rings
1/4 cup cooking oil
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Marinate the meat in lemon juice,soy sauce,pepper and salt for atleast 30 minutes.
Cook onion rings in oil until transparent.Transfer to a serving dish,leaving the oil in the skillet.Add the meat to the skillet and cook over high heat,stirring often, until tender.Transfer the meat to a serving dish.Add marinade and water to the skillet,simmer for 10 minutes and pour over the meat and onions. Serve with rice.

i'm half tagalog and half bisaya.............. and i'm lucky to have been introduced to some same dishes but with different style of cooking........ like, if you remember my post about adobong-paksiw, some call it umba, some paksiw na pata...... i think i got that recipe from my mom who is from cebu....

anyway, that's bistek (or filipino beef steak) in that picture...... i dunno why it's called bistek tagalog, im guessing there are other ways to cook this depending on which region in the philippines you are from...........
